The new novel that I am reading is very interesting because a girl talks about her mom being a person who helps ladys in labor.Though her mother does these magnificent things she doesnt seem to focus she just does it but she doesnt greet the child. She just delivers them. She often spaces out but then she comes to her senses. Its usually when she finishes reciving the child from its mother.
In my opinion this is a good story. Its different from the others but I guess in a way it is the same.Because its a novel then yet again....When the little girl notices that her mother tunes out she too wonders off. Then she calls her mother but no response. Then she gives a sigh and goes off.

Dear Beatriz,
If you read the story right to the end (or even just a few pages of it!) you will discover that the narrator is a boy, and that the story is not at all about a mother who 'spaces out'. You will also discover that the book is not a novel, but a collection of short stories, of which 'Baby Jane' is only the first. There are 9 other stories that are completely different from this first one.
I hope you enjoy my book.
Best wishes,
Margo Lanagan.
